| Rajan Bharti Mittal takes over as president, FICCI

Mr Rajan Bharti Mittal, 50, vice-chairman & managing director of
Bharti Enterprises has taken over as President, FICCI at the conclusion
of the 82nd annual general body meeting of FICCI held in the Capital.
Bharti Enterprises is one of India’s leading business groups with
interests in telecom, financial services, retail, manufacturing,
realty and agri-business. Bharti Airtel, a group company of Bharti
Enterprises, is Asia’s leading integrated telecom services provider
with operations in India and Sri Lanka. Bharti has joint ventures
with several global leaders; AXA for financial services, Del Monte
for its agri-business and Wal-Mart for retail and wholesale operations.
Born in 1960, Rajan Mittal joined Bharti Enterprises after graduating
from Punjab University. An alumnus of Harvard Business School, he
is actively involved in overseeing the activities of the group at
the corporate level. With his rich experience in the marketing function,
he is also involved in many of the new business ventures of the
Group. Rajan subscribes to a symbiotic relationship between business
and society and believes in corporate responsibility to give back
to the community in which it operates. This belief has resulted
in the Group CSR arm Bharti Foundation, which is committed to providing
education to under-privileged children in rural India.
