In an interactive
session with the Rai Business School students, Prof. Phillip L
Clay, Chancellor, Massachusetts Institute of Technology gave an
enlightening lecture on The Role of Global Education in Developing
Countries. Other dignitaries present in the session were Mr. Vinay
Rai, Chairman, Rai Foundation and Dr. Arundhati Banerjee, Director,
MIT India Programme.
In his speech, he touched upon the significance of global education in the
lives of each and every student who will form the work force
of tomorrow. He said that it is particularly important for the
students of the developing nations because it will help them
upgrade themselves to the international standards. The session
further continued as the students and faculty members of RBS,
Delhi raised their questions and led to an enriching interactive
session.
When asked about the plans of MIT to spread its roots in the
developing nations, Prof Clay said they have no plans to open
universities in developing countries. They have plans to work
in collaborations with colleges, institutes and universities
to conduct research and studies on global education there by
providing a platform for the students of these countries to
be exposed to the international standards of education.
